"Amu-chan?" Ran asked me in a cheery voice. T______________________T (<<<<--- that's how Amu looks right now.) "I give up," I mumbled. "Eh? Amu-chan you can't! Don't give up!" Ran cried.
"You spent so much money," Miki's calm voice pointed out.
"You caused so much trouble for the Guardians, desu~" Suu remarked. "Everyone is looking forward to you sing! You're the Joker with four eggs! The 'Cool &Spicy' Hinamori Amu! Don't give up!" Dia squealed.
"But I'm scared! What if I mess up a dance move? What if my voice breaks? What if people don't like the music? WHAT IF MY SONG SUCKS!?" I shouted hysterically. "SHUT UP!" a familiar voice yelled.
"Eru?" I was dumbstruck. "Eru?" "Eru?" "Eru?" "Eru? Utau's angel guardian character?"
"A heroine shouldn't act like that. What you should doing now is saying 'Leave it to me!'" she cried.
"Eru. . . . what are you doing here?" I demanded.
"Utau-chan, she is being too intense. She keeps practicing and practicing non-stop and Iru keeps cheering her on. She's determined to impress Ikuto, defeat you and win his love. I needed a break from Iru's nagging and Utau's determination that's driving her to smithereens," Eru answered.
"So I guess Utau, is really going to win," I murmured my eyes watering.
"Amu-chan, as much as I don't want you to win and Utau-chan to try, you can't give up. Even if Utau-chan's more experienced then you are, you can't give up. You gave her such high hopes. I know her hopes are ridiculous but you can't disappoint a feeling like that. So, Amu-chan, don't give up," Eru gently placed her small hand in my palm.
"Okay," I whispered, moisture running out of my eyes.
"Miki! Where's my dress?" I cried. "Don't panic! Just a minute!" she replied, sounding annoyed. "But the Ball starts in only fifteen minutes! I'm already late!" I ran around in circles.
"Ran, restrain her for a minute," Miki instructed. "Got it! Character change: Hop! Step! Jump!" My body was being pinned against my bed. "Hey, Ran! Let go of me!"
"I found the picture," Miki interrupted my complaints. The force pinning my body, to my bed was gone in an instant.
Miki received a big paint brush (well big for guardian characters) similar to the one I used as Amulet Spade. "Character change: Drew! Draw! Drawn!" and rainbow paint tainted my clothes. I was instantly wearing the exact same dress Miki drew, with Amulet Diamond style and the Amulet Spade frills that was purple with gold highlights.
I had a headband similar to Amulet Diamond's but with small frills surrounding it. There were purple 'X' hair clip ponytails tying my hair up. I wore flats.
"Amu-chan, looks. . . ." Ran and Suu said together. "Breathtaking. . . ." Dia finished. Miki was nodding in approval. "As expected from a guardian character with good fashion sense."
The others giggled.
I headed downstairs, putting on my 'Cool & Spicy' character. "Wai, wai! Onee-chan! Save me!" Ami squealed, jumping into my arms as my father came attacking her with camera flashes. She wore a sweet girl Lolita dress, that resembled Seraphic Charm's outfit.
"Eh? Amu-chan, where'd you get that outfit?" my mom asked me when she saw me. My face went blank. What should I say?
"Just a friend of yours helped you out," Miki murmured in my ear. "Um, a friend of mine helped me out," I answered, my voice trembling.
"Are you dancing with any boys tonight?" my father demanded. "Um, I don't know Dad. Anyways, ready Ami? We're gonna be late." "Yeah, Onee-chan let's go!" "Have fun!" My parents waved.
". . . . Apparently, Hinamori-san isn't joining us tonight so-" "WAIT!" I yelled, interrupting Tadase in mid speech.
Walking across the hall, I could feel the awed gaze of everyone on me, as they took in how I was dressed. I guided Ami to the little kid section and sat her down with other kids.
Then I turned to Tadase. "Tadase-kun, don't go assuming things. As the Joker I wouldn't miss an event so important!" When I looked at him, he was blushing. His skin practically turned scarlet, when he saw me.
Kairi was also blushing. Kukai's cheeks seemed a little rosy. It might've been just me, but I think Nagihiko was flushing slightly.
I sat down with my fellow guardians. Yaya and Rima stared at me in awe.
"Amu, you're beautiful," Rima complimented me. She wore her hair in a ponytail with a puffy mini dress with star and raindrop designs on it. Yaya's hair was down for once, surrounding her face making her look gorgeous. She had a light pink loose dress that trailed to the ground, with long sleeves. She wore bunny accessories to compliment it.
"Like an angel," Yaya agreed. I smiled halfway. "You guys should look at yourselves. You both look gorgeous."
"Amu-chi, thanks!" "And now, the Seiyo Ball will begin!" Tadase announced. The whole gym interrupted with hoots and 'yeahs'. The lights went off and and the colored lights flashed everywhere and the disco ball twirled.
Tadase wore a white tuxedo and Kairi and Kukai wore black and white tuxedos.
"Hinamori-san, would you care if possible, to greet some of our guests?" Tadase inquired. "Sure," I agreed.
Kairi and Nikaidou together walked over. "It's all ready and in place," they said. I nodded. "Thanks, Iinchou, Nikaidou-sensei!" and I ran off to greet guests.
"Haaaa. . . . greeting guests are a drag," I exhaled sitting in a chair, when Nagihiko said I could take a break.
"Yeah, even at the Ball who knew being Guardians would hard?" Yaya groaned.
"Now, I feel exhausted." "Amu-chi do you want me to get you punch?" Yaya inquired.
"Yeah, that would be nice thanks." When Yaya had crossed the gym over to where all the food was, I felt warm hands from behind cupping face and they forced me to look up. "I saw you greeting people but you didn't come to greet me," he breathed.
My face lit up. "Ikuto!" "The one and only," he grinned. "You came! I'm so happy! Thank you!" He flushed, letting go of my face. "It was nothing, really." I giggled. I was so happy to see Ikuto here.
"You look beautiful by the way," he added. Now it was my turn to blush. "T-thanks," I stammered.
Suddenly I noticed what he was wearing. It was tuxedo completely and black as pitch. It complemented his dark navy blue hair and his sapphire eyes, nicely.
"You look nice," I remarked. He smirked. A nice catchy up-tempo song started playing and Tadase walked towards me.
"Tsukiyomi Ikuto," he regarded him politely not to cause a scene. "Hinamori-san will you dance with me?"
I suddenly was aware of a shock of electricity, adrenaline flowing in my veins. Ikuto was getting jealous again.
I threw him a hysteric glance. He looked away as if saying 'Fine.
I don't care.
I smiled for his benefit, mouthing a small 'thank you.'
When he saw that he threw me a surprised glance, but Tadase was already dragging me towards the dance floor.
While the song played, Tadase always smiled and I couldn't help but smile either. I was having so much fun. He twirled me around. I circled around him. Then the song came to an end.
"Aw, it's already over?" I complained, looking at the stereo. "Hinamori-san. . . ." Tadase had whispered into my ear.
"Eh? What is it Tadase-kun-" I was interrupted, by shock because Tadase had just kissed me gently on the cheek. As quickly as I pulled away, he ended the kiss.
"Ta-Tadase-kun?!" I cried, alarmed. Blood rushed to my face and I was covering the cheek he kissed with both hands.
Ikuto ran passed Tadase in a flash and scooped me up. "Hey! Ikuto! Let me go!!" I protested. Again, he was looking murderously jealous.
"Yeah, Ikuto. Let go of Amu," a strong willed voice hollered. In the doorway, stood Utau with her usual pigtail hairstyle. She wore a beautiful black dress with sparkles and a silver chain belt on her waist. She had an angel and devil amulet around her neck.
"It's Hoshina Utau!" "Hoshina Utau?" "The real Hoshina Utau?" "You've got be kidding!" "No way!" "Yes way!" "Let's go ask for her autograph!" "Maybe she'll sing tonight?"
Murmurs were erupting from the crowd of people dancing. "Utau-chan! It's Utau-chan!" Ami cried, jumping into her arms. She smiled genuinely at Ami. "How are you Ami?"
"I've been good, Utau-chan! Onee-chan said she invited you to the Seiyo Ball just for me to hear you perform!" she said enthusiastically.
"Is that so?" Utau scoffed, in my direction.
I scowled back. Then I was self-consciously aware of Ikuto's arm around my waist. I blushed. When Ami was gone, Utau walked towards us.
"Ikuto, let go Amu," she commanded, her amethyst eyes fierce.
"What if I don't, Utau?" his grip tightened around my waist.
"Hey, Ikuto!" I fidgeted nervously. The pressure was getting to me.
"Amu seems to agree," Utau said sarcastically. "You don't really do you?" Ikuto asked me in disbelief.
"No, I don't mind if you're with me, you just don't have to hold me that tight!" I protested. "You're cutting off my air circulation!"
Ikuto finally let go of me, leaving me breathless. He seemed disappointed.
"Geez, you always have to hold me don't you Ikuto?" I asked between gasps.
He looked away.
"Air circulation. Breathing. I must cherish it, if I'm going to sing," I panted. When my breathing became even again, the speaker turned on.
"Hello everyone and thank you for coming. I hope you're enjoying yourselves so far. Tonight we have a special guest, who will sing for us. Please welcome, Hoshina Utau!"
Tadase announced. Everyone cheered and applauded. Lights from the stage turned on to match the theme color of Black
Diamond and Meikyuu Butterfly, I noticed Sanjou-san in the corner on the other side of the gym, talking with the press. Utau's going to play dirty is she?
"Utau. . . ." I spoke breaking the silence, as her band players went on the stage. Seriously, I still can't believe this is the same Seiyo Academy's gym. It looks more like a concert hall now.
"What Amu?" she interrogated, annoyed. I put my hand out for her to shake. "Good luck."
She reached out and we shook hands. "You too." Then- "So, Amu, I hear you're going to character change with Dia, while singing?" Utau spoke with a competitive tone.
"You heard it right," I smiled slyly, matching her tone. "Can't wait to see it," she sneered, in my face.
I scoffed. She smirked. before stepping onto the stage to sing. The competition had begun.
